trainings & workshops
Learning a new skillset is within reach.
I train mental health providers in integrative, trauma-informed therapies. There are two ways to learn with me.
Most of my open-enrollment trainings are recorded and hosted through PESI, so you can take them on your own schedule and earn CE credits. Everything else I deliver live, hosted by the organization that brings me in. Group practices, agencies, community mental health centers, college counseling centers, universities, state and federal agencies, and military bases, in the US and internationally.
Either way, you leave with skills you can use in your next session.

How I Teach
Learn it, practice it, use it.
My trainings are interactive, not one more lecture. Didactic and experiential, so there is more than one way to take it in.
We work through the concept and the research behind it. Then you practice the skill in breakout rooms, with me there to answer questions while you are trying it. Then you go home with the materials.
What you take with you:
Everything is built in bite-sized pieces and clearly organized, because you are learning this on top of a full caseload.

What I Teach
The skills, and where each one fits.
What I teach comes from neuroscience, the nervous system, resilience practices, and interventions inspired by Parts Work and EMDR.
Parts Work in trauma treatment
EMDR and trauma reprocessing
Trauma-informed stabilization and polyvagal-informed regulation
The neuroscience of traumatic stress
Working with dissociation, and the assessment measures that fit
STARR®, Self-Tapping for Attachment Readiness and Repair, the intervention I created
I also teach ways to integrate the IFS model, Cognitive Processing Therapy, EMDR, mindfulness and self-compassion practices, and ancestral lineage healing, depending on what a group needs.
IFS/EMDR Integration Trainings
The neuroscience behind trauma reprocessing, and how to apply it.
This is the work my book is built on, and the training organizations ask me for most.
With complex trauma, the hard part usually comes before the reprocessing. Can the client tolerate it, will their protective parts allow it, and do you have consent in the real sense. So this training spends its time on readiness before reprocessing and consent before you reprocess, and then on what to do when treatment is not moving.
IFS/EMDR Integration Training
2 days
The integration itself, for clinicians who already have both pieces in place. You will work through integrative case conceptualization, parts mapping in the early phases, target sequencing, and how to close an incomplete session with Parts Work. Requires basic EMDR training and some knowledge of the IFS model.
IFS/EMDR Integration Training, New to the IFS Model
4 days
The same integration, for clinicians who have EMDR training and are new to the IFS model. It teaches the model first, then brings it together with EMDR across the phases. Six hours a day, and it requires basic EMDR training.
Parts Work in Trauma Treatment
2 days
Trauma treatment through Parts Work, without the EMDR integration. For clinicians who want to work with a client's parts and are not using EMDR, or are not using it yet.

Trauma-Informed Workshops
Learn to read the nervous system.
These are the shorter formats, and the ones organizations book for a whole team.
A lot of what you need in a trauma session comes from reading a client's nervous system and tracking how they are relating to themselves. That is where the openings are, for connection, self-regulation, and co-regulation. Each workshop below stands alone and takes one piece of that.
Intro to Parts Work in Trauma Treatment
3 or 6 hours
Parts Work applied to trauma treatment. You will learn to recognize the protective parts that show up when a client gets close to something hard, and how to work with them rather than around them. The six-hour version leaves time to practice it, not just see it.
Trauma-Informed Stabilization Tools
3 hours
What to teach a client before any reprocessing happens. Built on a polyvagal-informed, three-phase model with four interventions you can use to help a client regulate. This is the one for clinicians who want more to hand a client in the room.
What Is Trauma Reprocessing
3 hours
Evidence-based conceptualizations and approaches for trauma reprocessing, reviewed side by side. You will leave able to explain reprocessing to a client who has never heard the term, and to decide whether and how to support a particular client through it.
Stabilization and Reprocessing Together
6 hours
Both workshops in one day, for teams that want the whole arc. Stabilization tools first, then the reprocessing approaches, so your team leaves knowing how to help a client regulate and how to decide whether and how to support them through reprocessing.

Custom & In-House Trainings
Built for your clinicians, your clients, and your setting.
Before I build anything, I want to know which diagnoses your providers see most and whether they are working inside session limits. A team with six sessions per client needs different interventions than a team with no cap.
How it works:
01
A complimentary discovery call about your team and what they are walking into
02
A proposal with content, learning objectives, and a description, so you have choices
03
We agree on the content, sign a contract, and schedule
Custom trainings run three to six hours, or up to two days for a deeper build covering assessment and diagnostic tools, the neuroscience of traumatic stress, stabilization interventions, dissociation, and how to decide if and how to support a client in trauma reprocessing.
If budget or calendars are tight, I can break a training into smaller pieces that fit your team meetings or admin time.
On-Demand Trainings
Take a training on your own schedule, with CE credits.
I have partnered with PESI, who publishes my book, hosts my recorded trainings, and is where most clinicians find me in the first place.
My on-demand courses live in their catalog, which is also where registration and CE credits are handled. They are recorded, so you can take them in bite-sized pieces whenever you have time, and you earn CE credit through PESI when you finish. I teach at their conferences and summits as well, and I am a PESI trainer.
The recorded courses cover the same ground I teach live. Parts Work in trauma treatment, trauma-informed stabilization, and evidence-based approaches to trauma reprocessing.
If you want hands-on practice with feedback, that comes with the live trainings.

praise
What clinicians and teams say.
I feel honored to be a participant with an instructor that is clearly a luminary in the field. She integrated the research and the clinical pieces of therapy with extreme skill and accuracy.
Dr. Fatter was extremely competent in this area, used her and our time well and was an overall great presenter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Questions I get asked the most.
If your question is not answered here, please send it along with your inquiry.
Do I need EMDR training before the IFS/EMDR integration training?
Yes. The two-day training is built for clinicians who already have basic EMDR training and some knowledge of the IFS model. The four-day training is for clinicians who have basic EMDR training and are new to the IFS model. If you have neither yet, the Parts Work training and the trauma-informed workshops are a good place to start.
Do your trainings offer CE credits?
It depends on the format. My on-demand trainings through PESI carry CE credits. For live trainings, host organizations often provide CE credits for their own attendees, and I can offer EMDRIA-approved EMDR CE credits with three months notice, because that is how long the EMDRIA application takes to be processed.
How long are your trainings?
Three hours, six hours, two days, or four days at six hours a day. Custom trainings can be broken into smaller sessions.
Do you train online or in person?
Both, and hybrid. Online trainings are on Zoom. In-person trainings are hosted at your site.
How do people register for your live trainings?
The organization hosting me handles registration and advertising. If you want to bring me in, start with a discovery call and we will build it from there.
Can you build a training for our team?
Yes, and most organizations do. We start with a call about your providers and your setting, then I send a proposal with content and learning objectives for you to choose from.
What do participants receive?
Everything in the materials list above, and you keep it. Recording access varies by host and is usually available for a set period of time.
How far in advance should we book?
Earlier is better, and three months is the minimum if you want EMDRIA-approved EMDR CE credits.
What does a training cost?
It depends on the format and the organization. For group private practices, community mental health centers, college counseling centers, state and federal agencies, and military bases, I charge a flat hourly fee to keep it accessible. Reach out and I will give you a number.
